Now that we are now into the 2nd week of the new year, it is time to evaluate the focus points for not only myself but for the business as well.
So far so good; my focus has not wandered from my initial thoughts to continue to move forward with my “self induced plan” for the year.
We all have a tendency to put pressure on ourselves to have goals/ resolutions/ plans and sometimes that is a good thing; sometimes not. It depends on how hard you are on yourself to accomplish what you set for yourself…are they realistic goals/ plans? Be honest with yourself and your business when it comes to planning and evaluating goals.
I find it helpful to review my personal plan/s I have every few weeks or at a minimum review once a month…to ensure I am on track or still focused on the end goal. Sometimes life gets in the way, even with the best of intentions in mind and you have to adjust fire (old Army acronym for changing your plan) to maintain focus.
For my business I set up a 3, 6 and 9 month plan for the year (my short term plan/ goals I would like to achieve), a mid term plan (18-24 months out) and a strategic plan (how I would like the business to look like 3-5 years out). I utilize the last 3 months of the year to review the last 9 months and based on that info, start developing a plan for the next year and ensure it is inline with my mid term and strategic plan.
It is still early in the year and I am glad nothing has railroaded me yet….fingers and toes crossed. There are a lot of things happening in the next couple of months to finish off getting the homestead in order after moving to include the rehab of a building to be a small future studio for Rex Madden Photography.
once complete, our property should allow for a fun experience along with some very nice and unique environmental portraits.
When the studio is complete, I will have a great opportunity for you to participate in!
