Ok….lets try this again…..This will be the 3rd time trying to post to the blog in the last 2 days.
The connectivity there is here, but the consistency is lackluster at best. But, gotta admit it is better than none at all. So, as in everything you might as well learn to work with what you have; if not the time here will be wrought with frustration……
On that note, it will help me in re-establishing a solid foundation in patience; as in this high speed techno savy world we live in has caused us to forget the finer things in life and slow down to enjoy them.
As noted in my last post that was not completely uploaded – only the first 2 lines of a couple of paragraphs and numerous photos; we have arrived and it is very desolate and in the middle of nowhere. I told my Lieutenant Colonel that i left one desert for another, except my desert has a whole lot more ammenities than here.
It makes you think though, how the Afghans live here. They live the same here as they did hundreds and thousands of years ago in this region; barring new materials and ways of doing some things……
It will take some time to get used to being here, primarily the jet lag/ sleep cycle. I have been up at all different hours of the night, waking up bright eyed and bushy tailed to realize it is like 0200 in the morning…..i will just have to slug through the days until my body resets its timeclock for here. It normally will take about a week or so then I wll be good.
Until then I have to suffer through….Time for breakfast here; i wll see if this post goes through…..if so, good. If not, try, try, again……….
Ahhh.. almost forgot: I started to do a quote a day but with all the stuff going on I forgot about it.
Todays quote is a cultural one here in Afghanistan. It is not really a quote, but one word that has quite a bit of meaning to it in many contexts.
Enshala – means ” god willing”
Most of the way it is used in good bye’s…..see you tomorrow, Enshala (god willing)…..
